Applying for Presentation

Call for Papers / How to Submit a Presentation Proposal

Scholars who wish to present at the Congress are invited to submit a presentation proposal using one of the procedures described below. The proposal submission period is from June 15 to September 15, 2026. Proposals received on or after September 16, 2026, cannot be accepted.

There are four ways to apply to present at the Congress: (1) submission through an existing EASA Research Network (RN); (2) individual presentation submission; (3) group presentation submission; and (4) submission by joining an existing EASA Research Network.

Applications through an EASA Research Network (RN) may be submitted only by RNs that have already been established within EASA. Information on existing RNs is available at: https://easa-sociology.com/research-network/

An RN session proposal must be submitted by the RN representative or by the coordinator designated by the RN representative.

Individual presentation submission is intended for a single presenter or for two or more co-authors who wish to submit one presentation proposal. Group presentation submission is intended for several presenters who form a group and wish to do a set of related presentations. Submission by joining an existing EASA RN is a procedure through which an individual scholar may seek a presentation opportunity by becoming involved in one of the Research Networks already established within EASA.

1. Submission by an Existing EASA Research Network

The “EASA Research Network (RN) Session Proposal” procedure is intended for existing EASA RNs that wish to organize one or two sessions in which scholars affiliated with the RN will present their research. This procedure is available only to existing RNs. Each existing RN may be allocated up to two sessions.

For an RN session proposal to be accepted for consideration, each proposed session must include at least four research presentations, and all required information must be provided for each presentation. RNs wishing to organize a session should complete and submit the “Application for RN Session Proposal.”

Please note that all presenters in RN sessions must already be members of EASA. Membership status will be checked by the 2026 Japan Organizing Committee. Presentations by non-members cannot be included in RN sessions.

If an RN wishes to organize more than two sessions, it should submit the additional proposal(s) using the Group Presentation Proposal procedure described below.

4. Submission by Joining an Existing EASA Research Network

EASA currently has more than twenty Research Networks (RNs). Information on existing RNs is available at: https://easa-sociology.com/research-network/

If there is an RN whose research interests overlap with those of the applicant, the applicant may contact members of that RN directly, seek to become involved in the RN, and submit a presentation proposal through the RN. At the 2026 Tokyo Congress, one or more sessions are expected to be organized for each RN, depending on the number of presentations.

When applying through this procedure, proposals should be submitted not to the 2026 Tokyo Congress Organizing Committee but to the relevant RN. Applicants should complete the “Excel Application for Individual Presentation” with the details of their proposed presentation and send it to the contact person, members, or other relevant representatives of the RN they wish to join. Submitted applications will be reviewed by each RN, and the RN will decide whether the applicant may participate in the RN. The result will be communicated to the applicant by the relevant RN representative.

If you have difficulty establishing contact with an RN whose research interests are relevant to your own, please contact the 2026 Tokyo Congress Organizing Committee at easa2026.contact[at]gmail.com (please change [at] to @ when submitting an inquiry).

*This congress is co-hosted with the Graduate School of Human Relations, Keio University.
